There is a master process calling some sub-processes.When one of the sub processes fails, the client would like the master process to stop execution and report the failure.
Based on the above use case :

Wait for process to complete : As the name implies, when turned ON, the master(calling) process waits for the sub-process to complete execution before proceeding to the next step. Please note that if the sub- process fails, the calling process stops and completes its execution with status displayed 'GREEN' in process reporting.

In order to report the sub-process error by the calling process, you will have to uncheck the above option and turn on 'Abort if process fails'.

'Abort if process fails' will abort the calling process when the sub-process fails. The calling process will stop execution and report the error with status displayed 'RED' in process reporting.
