Issue:

When Atom service is restarted on Windows, or when a Atom restart is attempted, there is a Windows service error returned:

Error 1067 process terminated unexpectedly.

Solution/Workaround:

  1. Make sure you are logged on to the Windows machine as an Administrator.
  2. Make sure there is a Java instance installed on the same Windows machine. They could be located in the following locations:
    1. C:\Program Files
    2. C:\Program Files (x86)
    3. <atom_root_install>\java
    4. <atom_root_install>\jre
  3. Switch the service to run as different users. Try the local system account, as well as any local admin user(s).
  4. Check contents of the <atom_installation>\.install4j. This folder should contain most (if not all) of the following files and folders:

  5. Navigate to the <atom_installation> directory and attempt an uninstall of the 'failed' service or failed Atom.
  6. If the uninstall fails as well, the last resort is to re-install the broken atom, by going to the platform.boomi.com, downloading the appropriate atom installer, and proceeding from there.
