Within the ../<Atom install root>/.install4j directory, there may be one or both of the following files:

  • inst_jre.cfg (required)
  • pref_jre.cfg (optional)

What these files do is point to the specific JRE or JDK instance of Java in which the atom should use when initializing and running. By default, the contents of these files will point to the Java Installation defined when performing the install.

inst_jre.cfg should never be changed, while pref_jre.cfg can be. Essentially, if pref_jre.cfg is present, then this file takes precedence (or is preferred) over the inst_jre.cfg file.
