Salesforce Query Connector fails if previous query returns no data

I've got a process that queries Salesforce (on Branch 3). If any data returns, some properties are set and a second salesforce query is then initiated. Issue I'm getting is that when no data is returned, instead of continuing to the next branch, the process fails with an error message that the second query is "MALFORMED". (The second query uses the record returned in the first query)

My understanding of Boomi, is that the second query shouldn't even be considered since the first connector returned no results.
