when the process has been failed what are the steps to be checked in process reporting?
I read notifications of the error which is usually sufficient for me but via process reporting, you may find this useful:

You can click on the message to get more info. There are probably more methods to get more details, but, those are usually sufficient for me. (well, you still have to figure out the meaning of the oracle or java errors... )
Something else to check is the version of the component that was being run when it failed. When something doesn't work in prod but it works in non-prod I have found that this is usually due to a difference in the revisions deployed to each environment.
Tip: I generally sort by Type to make it easy to find things.
You can also drill down under View Process State to find at what juncture the failure has occurred. If you have implemented try catch in the process, check either the message queue if sent to MQ or check your alerts if subscribed.
