Make sure the local Atom is running in Desktop Mode and not as a Windows NT service. The NT service should be disabled so it does not start automatically the next time Windows is started. Because QuickBooks is a client application, if the QuickBooks company file is closed, the NT service cannot access the QBW file.

To disable the Windows Service:
  1. On the local computer, navigate to Start > Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Services.
  2. Locate the Atom service in the list. It will be named "Atom - {your Atom name}".
  3. Right click on the Atom service and choose Properties.
  4. For the Startup Type, choose "Disabled".
  5. Click Stop to stop the Atom service.
  6. Click OK to save the changes.
To start the Desktop Atom:
  1. Go to Start > All Programs > Boomi AtomSphere > Atom - {your Atom Name}.
  2. Click Desktop Atom.
  3. in a few moment you will see the Atom icon displayed in the Windows system tray.
Remember that for the Desktop Atom to remaining running and syncing data, the Windows user who started the Atom must remain logged onto the local computer. The session can be locked but the Atom will stop if that user logs off.
