Can parallel processes manipulate the same document cache instance?

Looking for some clarification on the document cache being "distributed across a molecule or cloud" in this reference guide article: http://help.boomi.com/atomsphere/GUID-E52FE1E8-B599-431C-8B6A-C0BA3301FE88.html.

I know document caches have "process execution scope" so each execution of the same process referencing the same document cache component would have its own instance/copy of the data in the document cache and thte different executions could not manipulate one another's cached data, but does that hold true for parallel processing within a single process execution? In other words, can thread #2 "see" the data cached in thread #1 and vice versa?

My scenario is to read in several documents, send each to a separate thread, and have them execute completely independently (i.e. each would build and maintain its own document cache--but same document cache component of course). Is this possible?
