How do I return data from subprocess?

I have a sub-process that I'm going to be calling for EVERY document that I'm passing it and I need to return data that is specific to each document.  How do I make a subprocess that will return data?

(The reference guide says, "It is important to understand that the main process does not actually pass its documents into the subprocess and no documents are returned to the main process. The subprocess call is considered a separate, distinct process execution. However, the main process can override connector parameters, depending on the connector type used in the subprocess." ... So how do I return data?)

Thank you!
