How to detect no document from query ExecutionRecord API

I'm calling Atomsphere API query ExecutionRecord passing an atom id, process id, and execution time as input parameters.  I want to return all execution records for executions ran >= the execution time input.

When there are no execution records returned because there are no executions ran >= the execution time specified, I'd like to throw an exception.

I have tried adding a try-catch before the API call to no avail.  I have tried using a decision shape to see if executionId (ExecutionRecord/executionId) equals '', but nothing works.

I have also tried turning on the "Return Application Error Response" in the API operation, but nothing works.
