How to stop Combine removing lines of XML that are common?

I'm sure the answer is here somewhere but haven't figured out the right keywords.

I'm trialling some address cleanup web services.

I Map from my data into their XML.

My Map produces lots of these

<?xml version='1.0' encoding='UTF-8'?>

<Request>

  <CustomerID>MY CUSTOMER ID</CustomerID>

  <Records>

    <RequestRecord>

      <AddressLine1>Some address stuff</AddressLine1>

      <PostalCode>04272-300039420349</PostalCode>

      <Country>BR</Country>

    </RequestRecord>

  </Records>

</Request>

I then run that through a Combine using the XML Profile, set to merge at RequestRecord.

Out the other end of combine I get one XML, with lots of Request Records, but CustomerID has been removed. I've tried the merge point on everything it will let me.

Happily I already have a bunch of Groovy to hack Dom XML for another project, but that's hardly friendly.

Advice very welcome.
