API question: How to Return a Response without Fully Executing the Boomi Process?

I have a REST API which I'm calling in Boomi and I want to return a response before the process has fully executed.  I want to get the request, cache it, and then return a response without having to wait for the full process to execute.  I know I can set the output type to none as per this post, but it seems like that just returns an immediate 200 response without a response body.

Is there a way to return a response mid-way through the process and continue executing the process?  Here's my process below.  I'd like to return a response in the first branch, but it takes about a minute to return the response, which makes me think it's executing the entire process.
