process stops upon no query results

I have an email notification process that I was keen to have email even if the query returns no rows ..

The Boomi process stops however at this point ..

I guess I can trick the Oracle query into returning at least 1 row ..

i.e. do the query I want and then union with a selection from dual with all null value columns matching desired query ..

There might be another way ..

i.e. use a process branch .. cache ..

I could do an upfront select count(*) .. and then branch different paths depending upon result of select count(*) ..

Is this a common requirement / issue ?

Any comments / suggestions appreciated.
