Database connector  overwrite database name

When we configure any database connector (Oracle, SQL Server or MySQL), Database name is part of the connector configuration. My question is how would I override the database name if I have multiple databases. For example I have MySQL connection and in connector component, I set database field as InternationalOrders. Now I want to reuse the same MySQL connection, but this time the database name is different say DomesticOrders. How will I be able to reuse the connections in this case and override the database name?

Also I know we could probably use a fully qualified query i.e. SELECT * from <Databasename>.<tablename>, but my question is how would it insert/update/create query vs just select query behave? Is there a better way to handle this?
