No Params allowed in select list

I got this warning on my query "No Params allowed in select list"  Needless to say this is very frustrating.  Why is this not allowed?  Is this a limitation on boomi's side or the driver?  I would think that Boomi could pass anything it wanted to any part of the statement, but maybe more adjustments are made to the statement behind the scenes than I realize.
